The GISS climate network is administered by NASA.

On August 6, 2007 in a post titled [WWW]Quantifying the Hansen Y2K Error Steve documented an error in the GISS temperature record which added approximately 0.15C to US temperatures starting January 2000. The error was corrected by NASA. On August 8, Steve posted [WWW]A New Leaderboard at the U.S. Open, which examined the corrected GISS record showing 1934 as the hottest year. This post got worldwide media attention. The GISS rankings of the hottest years have been adjusted since that time and still undergo new adjustments from time to time.
